America’s Best Cities For Food

America, the melting pot of the West, is also a melting pot for cuisine from all over the world. You’ll find an incredible variety of foods in every town and city, and recipes for dining standards will vary even from state to state. Your dining experience can go from posh surroundings, such as L’Espalier in Boston, to Stubbs Bar-B-Q in Lubbock, Texas, and you will always find great dining in between. Here are some of the best cities in America for food.
New York City
New York City, of course, has to top the list of great cities for food. The posh restaurants here almost outnumber street vendors, and you will find something for every taste. Bouley on Duane St. offers the chef’s modern French dining in luxurious surroundings. You will learn the meaning of true dining as you enjoy dishes made with freshly harvested, in season ingredients, original vegetable extracts, and such delicacies as golden osetra caviar.
If your tastes are for more portable meals, consider Mogridder’s BBQ in the Bronx. Fall-from the bone BBQ with distinctly Northern sauce is the hallmark of Mogridder’s. The classic foods here will make you feel right at home, and the gourmet touch on classics will bring you back for more.
New Orleans
Another romantic name that is easily recognized all over the world is New Orleans. The Restaurant August features the works of Chef Besh. The woods are made of dark wood, and the lighting is soft, provided by elegant chandeliers. Orders are available a la carte or from the menu. Black truffle with blue crab tops the offerings, along with a chocolate buttermilk cake for desert. Seafood is king in Louisiana, and in Restaurant August, as well.
The Creole Creamery is perhaps, a more affordable selection for your dining pleasure. Located in Prytania St in New Orleans, this creamery offers one-of-a-kind experiences in ice cream and baked goods. Have you ever tried corn ice cream? You may find that it’s your favorite, when you give it a try here. Too bad, though, because it’s the only place you will ever find it.
Houston
Houston, the workhorse of the Gulf Coast, is also known by any as the New York of Texas. Here, you will find Arcodoro, and Italian restaurant that will make the trip worthwhile, all on its own. You will find dense Sardinian music bread topped with freshly-made tomato sauce and pecorino cheese. On top of all of this are 2 poached eggs that have been garnished with the restaurant’s special-made extra virgin olive oil.
Foreign Cuisine
I ‘ve done a lot of travelling alot of travelling over the past 5 years and my love for foreign food has increased dramatically! Some of the places I’ve been have offered some great dishes and there are some brilliant restaurants in the US that bring that cuisine over to us! Last year I went over to Dubai and despite my lack of Arabic translation I got to try the wonders of Al Harees, and much more, if you do see any interesting restaurants selling foreign cuisine, don’t be scared to give it a try!
Food Trucks
Food trucks are popular in many parts of America, and Houston is no different. If you are ever in Houston, look for Pounders in nearby League City. This food truck features the best of Texan BBQ, with a combination of sweet and spicy in the sauce. They feature Italian beef sandwiches and ground brisket burgers. The servings are Texas sized, and you’ll know that you had a full meal when you can’t eat another bite of their award winning chili.
